De vriendelijke Colin 'Col' Lawes leidt gelukkig een rustig leven, runt een persbureau met zijn smerige vrouw Sandra en speelt competitiedarts in het Atletic Arms-team. Colin betrapt haar op overspel met teamcaptain Geoff, een agent, die doet alsof Colin haar heeft misbruikt. Col wordt uit het team gegooid net nadat het zich heeft gekwalificeerd voor de competitiefinale in Blackpool. Hij besluit er alleen heen te reizen, in de hoop haar terug te winnen.
