Een blanke vrouwelijke detective werkt samen met een zwarte mannelijke detective om de persoon te vinden die een reeks bijzonder wrede moorden pleegt. In de loop van het onderzoek beginnen de twee een aantrekkingskracht tot elkaar te ontwikkelen, maar de situatie wordt gecompliceerd door het feit dat hij getrouwd is.
