China is ondergedompeld in strijd als feodale krijgsheren al vechtend proberen hun macht uit te breiden in de naburige landen. Gevoed door zijn succes op het slagveld, spot de jonge en arrogante Hao Jie met één van de Shaolin-meesters wanneer hij deze verslaat tijdens een duel. Maar hoogmoed komt voor de val.
