Nancy Evans (Patty Duke) en haar drie kinderen nemen hun intrek bij grootmoeder Alice. Op dezelfde dag ontvangt Alice als verjaardagscadeau van haar zuster een enorme lamp die zij gekocht heeft bij een antiekhandelaar in Amityville. Vanaf dat moment verschijnen er mysterieuze wezens en vinden er verschrikkelijke gebeurtenissen plaats.
