Tijdens een tussenstop vertelt kolonel Lindsay hoe hij de nacht ervoor droomde dat zijn vliegtuig in een storm terechtkwam en neerstortte. Beetje bij beetje beseffen de reizigers dat de omstandigheden van de tragedie die hij aanhaalt vrijwel dezelfde zijn als die waarin zij zich bevinden.
