Barry B. Benson is een jonge, pas afgestudeerde bij, die zoals alle bijen slechts één carrièrekeus heeft: 'honing'. Ontgoocheld als hij is trekt hij de wijde wereld in om daar gered te worden door de bloemiste Vanessa. Daar ontdekt Barry dat de mensen de consumenten van al de honing zijn en gaat daarom aan het werk om de mensheid van het stelen van de honing aan te klagen...
