Charlie is een instabiele huisvader die een tijdje in een inrichting heeft gezeten. Nadat hij wordt vrijgelaten, gaat hij weer bij zijn 16-jarige dochter Miranda wonen. Miranda haar leven, dat net een beetje op orde was, wordt zo weer overhoop gehaald. Charlie is er namelijk van overtuigd dat hij een oude Spaanse schat op het spoor is. Hoewel Miranda aanvankelijk sceptisch is, helpt ze haar vader toch mee met zijn zoektocht.
