Tussen 1957 en 1964 schreef de Poolse dichteres Sofia Bohdanowiczowa 25 brieven aan de Poolse auteur Józef Wittlin. Beiden waren in ballingschap in Noord-Amerika. De correspondentie maakt deel uit van de bezittingen van Houghton Library in de Harvard University. Een vrouw is daar gekomen om de brieven, gekreukt papier en vervaagde enveloppen te bekijken en probeert te verwoorden hoe het werk haar doet voelen.
