Wanneer zijn mentor bij een auto-ongeluk komt te overlijden, besluit Robert om zijn middelbareschoolstudies niet af te maken. Hij deelt zijn ouders mee dat hij het huis uitgaat en zijn droom van striptekenaar najaagt. Robert vindt een appartement en een baan bij een advocaat en geraakt gefascineerd door de cliënt Wallace die ooit voor een uitgeverij van stripverhalen werkzaam was.
