Plot

Het is 1949, en de zwangere huisvrouw Laura Brown plant een feestje voor haar echtgenoot. Tegelijkertijd leest ze de roman 'Mrs. Dalloway' van Virginia Woolf. Clarissa Vaughn, een moderne vrouw die in het heden leeft, organiseert een feestje voor haar vriend Richard. Richard is een beroemde auteur die stervende is aan aids. Deze twee verhalen zijn gelinkt aan het werk en het leven van Woolf, die de eerdergenoemde roman aan het schrijven is.
