Sawako Kuronuma is een lief meisje dat nogal verlegen is. Door haar klasgenoten wordt ze door haar haarstijl en stuursheid "Sadako" genoemd, naar de naargeestige hoofdpersoon uit Hideo Nakata’s horrorfilm “Ringu”. Dan verandert haar leven plotseling als Shota Kazehaya, de populairste jongen op school, ineens interesse in haar toont.
