Dan en Jeanine Dewersen leiden een duf leven. De enige vonk in hun slaapkamer komt uit het stopcontact en de beste vriend van hun dochter is haar iPad. Dan pikt het niet langer en plant een rustig, ontspannen weekend in een afgelegen bergstadje. Geen kinderen, geen telefoons, geen sociale media: met het uitje probeert Dan op een romantische manier zijn huwelijk en seksleven te herstellen. Het perfecte weekend wordt al snel rampzalig als het koppel te maken krijgt met onaardse ontmoetingen, sterke eetwaren, chagrijnige lokale bewoners en een vervelende eenogige hond.
