Een jongen raakt bevriend met Winter, een gewonde dolfijn die zijn staart verloren is in een krabbenval. Hij probeert iedereen om zich heen te motiveren om de dolfijn te redden. De dierenarts Clay redt de dolfijn en brengt hem naar zijn hospitaal. Hier proberen ze samen met een dokter prothese te maken om de staart te vervangen en zo de dolfijn te redden.
