Deze documentaire volgt een handvol mannen van zeventig tot tachtig jaar in Piëmont, Italië, op zoek naar de ongrijpbare Alba-truffel. Ze laten zich leiden door een geheime cultuur die door generaties heen is doorgegeven, maar ook door de neuzen van hun geliefde en vakkundig getrainde honden. De documentaire onderzoekt de verwoestende effecten van klimaatverandering en ontbossing op een eeuwenoude traditie door middel van een verhaal dat het leven viert en de menselijke geest verheft.
