Tijdens zijn carrière slaapt Cox met 411 vrouwen, trouwt hij drie keer en krijgt hij 22 kinderen en 14 stiefkinderen. Elvis, The Beatles en zelfs een chimpansee behoren tot zijn vriendenkring. Hij raakt verslaafd aan iedere denkbare drug en kickt telkens weer af.
