Allison wordt door een vriend overgehaald om de colleges van professor Derek te volgen. Hij geeft les in de psychologie van de angst. De professor heeft echter zeer onconventionele lesmethoden. In plaats van boeken gebruikt hij geladen geweren, scherpe bijlen en angstaanjagende verhalen, die allemaal schijnen uit te komen.
