De dove filmmaker Alison O’Daniel stuitte op een nieuwsbericht over de onopgeloste diefstal van tuba’s op een aantal middelbare scholen in Los Angeles. Ze vroeg zich af hoe die studenten moesten oefenen zonder instrument. Het werd het startsein van een beeldgedicht over hoe mensen op het doofheidsspectrum geluid beleven.
