Een dodelijk virus weet zijn weg te vinden naar de Verenigde Staten via een Afrikaans aapje. Het is aan Kolonel Sam Daniels om de epidemie te stoppen in een klein dorpje, dat volkomen afgezet wordt in een poging om een overdreven reactie van het Witte Huis te voorkomen.
