De tienerjongen Adam Reed rouwt om de onverwachte dood van zijn vader, nu een jaar geleden. Op een dag gaat hij naar diens garage waar hij op een oudere versie van zichzelf stuit. De oudere Adam komt klaarblijkelijk van een toekomst waarin de mens het tijdreizen heeft ontdekt. Adam is erop uit een geheime missie uit te voeren waarbij hij de hulp van zijn jongere zelf goed kan gebruiken.
