Een plattelandsmeisje vindt een groot, mysterieus ei in een veld en brengt het terug naar haar kleine stad Bueng Kan. Uit de Mekong verschijnt vervolgens een kolossaal monster met het lichaam van een vis en stevig krokodillenhuid. Het wezen richt een ravage aan, op zoek naar haar ei. Afgesneden van de wereld zullen de inwoners van Bueng Kan hun krachten moeten bundelen met de stadsambtenaren en Chinese wetenschappers om het monster tegen te houden, voordat het te laat is.
