De negenjarige Vanille ruilt het drukke Parijs om voor een vakantie in het tropische Guadeloupe. Terwijl ze op zoek is naar een magische bloem, komt ze in een bijzonder avontuur terecht waar ze de half jongen half struik Oba ontmoet en zichzelf en haar wortels ontdekt.
