De zwangere Charlotte verliest haar vriend in een auto-ongeluk. Ontroostbaar wordt ze in zijn familie opgenomen waar niet veel later blijkt dat elke handeling van haar nauwlettend in de gaten wordt gehouden. Charlotte krijgt steeds meer argwaan en leeft in angst en stelt zich de vraag hoe ver haar schoonfamilie durft te gaan om het leven van haar en haar ongeboren baby te beheersen.
