James lijdt aan een terminale ziekte. Hij besluit zijn drie beste vrienden mee te nemen op een reis naar Barafundle Bay, een fantastische, melancholieke plaats aan de zuidwestkust van Wales. De situatie en de uitdaging, hoe om te gaan met de conditie van James en hun hechte band, dwingen de drie, om na te denken over hun eigen leven en de compromissen, die ze hebben moeten sluiten in het verleden. Het openlijke sarcasme van James brengt echter lang onderdrukte vijandigheid naar boven, die dreigt te eindigen in openlijke agressie. Wat begon als een luchtige vakantie, verandert geleidelijk in een uitdagende test voor hun vriendschap.
