In de hooglanden van Harar, Ethiopië, dromen jongeren van een beter bestaan. Velen kauwen op zogeheten 'Qat-bladeren', stimulerende landbouwproducten die ook al eeuwen worden gebruikt in de rituelen van Soefi-moslims maar nu vooral ook geld opleveren. Het vooruitzicht van een grenstocht naar Egypte biedt enig perspectief, maar de reis is duur en vol gevaren.
