Veertien jaar geleden nam het leven van Harry Caine, of Mateo Blanco zoals zijn echte naam luidt, een dramatische wending. Door een auto-ongeluk verloor hij niet alleen zijn zicht, maar ook zijn grote liefde Lena. Nu krijgt de eens zo succesvolle regisseur en schrijver alleen nog steun van zijn manager Judit en haar zoon Diego. Over zijn verleden praat hij niet en niemand vraagt er ook naar. Totdat op een dag Diego een ongeluk krijgt en Harry zich over hem ontfermt. Om Diego te vermaken vertelt Harry zijn levensverhaal. Hij vertelt over zijn tijd als regisseur en over Lena. Het is een even ontroerend als afschuwelijk liefdesverhaal, dat wordt gedomineerd door fataliteit, jaloezie en verraad.
