Miami Vice detectives Sonny Crockett en Ricardo Tubbs krijgen de opdracht undercover te gaan, om drie aan elkaar gerelateerde moorden op te lossen. Hiervoor moeten zij zich voordoen als drugtransporteurs, die zendingen Zuid-Florida binnenloodsen. Sonny krijgt bovendien een affaire met Isabella, de vrouw van één van de drugsdealers.
