Het is 1997 in New York wanneer de documentairemaker Erik Rothman een eerste ontmoeting heeft met Paul Lucy, een knappe maar gesloten advocaat van een uitgeverij. Wat begint als een sterk geladen eerste ontmoeting wordt al snel meer, en er vormt zich al snel een relatie. Terwijl de twee mannen gaan samenwonen, gaan ze elk verder met hun eigen dwangmatigheden en verslavingen.
