In het "wilde westen" wordt er op een dag een bekende wetenschapper dood aangetroffen. Speciaal Agent Artemus Gordon moet samenwerken met James West, een schietgrage cowboy, om achter de daders aan te gaan. Het onderzoek leidt naar Dr. Arliess Loveless, die de beste wetenschappers uit het land ontvoerd heeft.
