Na een atoombom in de ruimte tot ontploffing te hebben gebracht, zorgt Superman er ongewild voor dat drie criminelen van Krypton uit hun ruimtegevangenis kunnen ontsnappen. Ze komen naar de aarde om de macht over te nemen. Helaas heeft Superman net zijn krachten opgegeven omdat hij verder wil met Lois Lane. Zal hij de superschurken nog kunnen verslaan?
