Peking, 1881. Om aan een gedwongen huwelijk te ontsnappen is prinses Pei Pei met een escorte naar Amerika gevlucht. Ze is maar nauwelijks op Amerikaanse bodem of de jonge vrouw beseft dat ze in een val is gelokt. Haar begeleiders blijken immers gangsters te zijn die haar enkel tegen een mooie geldsom willen loslaten. Chon Wang, meester in de martial arts, belooft aan de Chinese keizer dat hij de prinses zal redden.
