Hunky Dory speelt zich af in Swansea, in de zomer van 1976 – de heetste zomer ooit in het Verenigd Koninkrijk. Centraal staan de belevenissen van een idealistische toneellerares die de eindejaarsshow in goede banen probeert te leiden: een soort van rock-n-roll, futuristische versie van Shakespeares “The Tempest”. Om het verhaal te vertellen maakt ze gebruik van de favoriete popliedjes van de kinderen. Ze probeert de show alleen op te zetten en de kinderen in vorm te krijgen, een taak die sowieso al erg moeilijk is en die nog moeilijker gemaakt wordt door de genadeloze zon en de verlokkelijke stranden van Swansea.
Nee, helaas is Hunky Dory nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
