De zeventien jarige Frances 'Baby' Houseman zit in de levensfase waarin je een paar belangrijke levenslessen krijgt. 'Baby' is gek op dansen. Eenmaal op vakantie in de Catskill mountains met haar oudere zuster en haar ouders, toont ze weinig interesse in de kamp activiteiten. Ze ontdekt op een avond als ze het hoofdkwartier van de kampleiding binnenloopt waar een dance party in volle gang is, dat dit wel een erg leuke vorm van vermaak is. Al mijmelend over de erotische dansbewegingen en de opzwepende rythms kan 'Baby' bijna niet meer wachten om een deel te kunnen nemen aan het vollgende feest. Deze drang wordt nog eens extra versterkt als ze een oogje laat vallen op de sexy hartendief Johnny Castle de dansleraar van het vakantie verblijf. Johnny Castle die haar vervolgens inwijdt in de geheimen van 'dirty dancing'. Ze blijkt er zo goed in te zijn, dat ze bij optredens een meisje kan vervangen dat aan het herstellen is van een abortus.
Nee, helaas is Dirty Dancing nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
