Plot

Omar de Tentenmaker, die de eerste Iraanse zonnekalender schreef rond 1073 na Christus, wordt een verschoppeling vanwege zijn radicale geschriften en verbeterde kalender. Omar's vrouw Shireen, met wie hij in het geheim trouwde en zwanger maakte, wordt begeerd door de sjah, die haar naar zijn harem laat brengen. Ze stoot de sjah af en wordt in de gevangenis gegooid, waar ze een dochter baart. De dochter, genaamd Little Shireen, wordt uit de gevangenis gesmokkeld en naar Omar gebracht, hoewel hij niet weet dat de baby zijn dochter is.
