Wally Benton is de presentator van de populaire radioshow 'The Fox', een programma waarin misdaden worden opgelost. Op de vooravond van zijn huwelijk met Carol Lambert wordt Wally naar het landhuis van sekteleider Joseph Jones gestuurd. Hoewel hij zich vredelievend voordoet naar zijn volgelingen toe, is Jones in feite een crimineel die afpersing niet schuwt. Hij hoopt een erfenis van een miljoen dollar in handen te krijgen en alleen de rechtmatige erfgenaam, Mr. Upshaw, staat nog in zijn weg. Jones eist van Wally dat hij de perfecte moord plant. Wally weigert uiteraard, maar dan komt hij er achter dat Jones zijn verloofde en de dochter van Wally's sponsor heeft ontvoerd.
Nee, helaas is Whistling in the Dark nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
