Sunny Hayes is een F1-coureur die in de jaren 90 furore maakte en inmiddels van zijn pensioen geniet. Op een dag doet een goede vriend en teambaas van een backmarker een beroep op hem om terug te keren in de Formule 1. In de rol van mentor keert hij vervolgens terug om het veelbelovende talent Joshua Pearce bij te staan.
