De jonge Mark (Elijah Wood) belooft zijn zwaar zieke moeder dat hij haar niet zal laten sterven. Zijn moeder sterft toch en Mark wordt korte tijd later door zijn vader naar familie gebracht om enkele weken bij hen door te brengen. Hij kan er spelen met zijn neefje Henry (Macaulay Culkin), die van zijn eigen leeftijd is, en het jongere nichtje Connie. Henry sleept Mark mee in spelletjes die soms gevaarlijk maar altijd amusant zijn. Stilaan wordt het Mark duidelijk dat Henry pervers is en dat hij tot monsterlijke dingen in staat is. Voor de buitenwereld houdt Henry echter het masker van de voorbeeldige jongen op.
Nee, helaas is The Good Son nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
