De Indonesische James wil het maken als rapper en is in Hawaii om zijn album op te nemen voor een prominent platenlabel. Hij is er in het gezelschap van zijn vader en voormalig manager die niet van plan is de controle uit handen te geven. Terwijl James de schulden opstapelt, benoemt zijn vader zichzelf tot persoonlijk assistent. Tussen het gekibbel met zijn vader door en de hoge eisen binnen de muziekindustrie dient James zijn eigen stem te vinden.
