Het verhaal gaat over architect/workaholic Michael Newman, die een universele afstandsbediening krijgt waarmee hij bepaalde delen uit zijn leven vooruit kan spoelen en terugspoelen. Er ontstaan problemen wanneer de afstandsbediening niet meer doet wat Michael wil.
