Politieman Frank Connor is ten einde raad want zijn zoontje lijdt aan een zeldzame bloedziekte die alleen met een beenmergtransplantatie genezen kan worden. Omdat geen geschikte donor gevonden kan worden duikt Frank in de computerbestanden van de FBI en treft de naam Peter McCabe aan. McCabe's DNA structuur voldoet perfect en hij zou als donor kunnen dienen. Echter, McCabe blijkt een kille moordenaar te zijn die voor moord tot levenslang is veroordeeld en zijn tijd in een zwaarbewaakte gevangenis uitzit. Connor vraagt McCabe om zich als donor beschikbaar te stellen wat hij in eerste instantie weigert. Later besluit McCabe om toch aan het verzoek mee te werken in ruil voor meer privileges in de gevangenis. Maar McCabe heeft heel andere plannen en is van plan om in het ziekenhuis, waar de transplantatie moet plaatsvinden, te ontsnappen.
Nee, helaas is Desperate Measures nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
