Zuster Marina is een zeer onorthodoxe non. Ze wordt in de zomer van 1994 naar El Parral gestuurd, een kostschool voor jongens die binnenkort gesloten dreigt te worden. Ook al verwelkomen de kinderen Marina met allerlei streken, ze zullen, beetje bij beetje, heel dicht bij de familie komen die ze nooit gehad hebben.
