Steve Myers is een advocaat die uit frustratie visser is geworden. Wanneer zijn enige bezit, zijn boot, door bliksem wordt getroffen krijgt hij niets terug van de verzekering, zij zien het als 'een daad van God'. Hij pakt z'n oude beroep weer op en besluit zowel de verzekeringsmaatschappij als de kerk aan te klagen.
