De bescheiden opzichter van een appartementencomplex, Cleveland Heep, treft tot zijn grote schrik een nimf uit een sprookjeswereld in zijn gebouw aan. Deze kan niet meer terugkeren naar haar eigen wereld. Al snel komen Cleveland en de andere bewoners van het gebouw tot de conclusie dat ook zij deel uitmaken van een sprookje. Dit sprookje kent echter ook zijn boosaardige figuren, die er alles aan doen om te voorkomen dat de nimf kan terugkeren naar haar eigen wereld ...
