In 2022 keerde Mantas Kvedaravičius terug naar de verwoeste stad Marioepol in Oekraïne, om de mensen te filmen die hij had ontmoet voor zijn documentaire Mariupolis uit 2016. Begin april 2022 werd hij in Marioepol gedood door Russische troepen terwijl hij de Russische invasie in Oekraïne documenteerde. Zijn verloofde wist met de beelden te ontsnappen.
Nee, helaas is Mariupolis 2 nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
