Stella groeit op in Berlijn tijdens de heerschappij van het nazi-regime. Ze droomt van een carrière als jazz-zangeres. Ondanks alle repressieve maatregelen wordt ze gedwongen onder te duiken met haar ouders in 1944. Haar leven verandert in een echte tragedie.
