Arme Roger kampt met een groot minderwaardigheidscomplex. Om zijn zelfbeeld op te vijzelen, besluit hij een zelfhulpcursus te volgen. Onder begeleiding van de onorthodoxe Dr. P. hoopt hij ooit Amanda, het meisje van zijn dromen, te kunnen aanspreken. Vervelend voor Roger is dat Dr. P. ook zijn zinnen heeft gezet op Amanda.
