Een gefrustreerde werkloze leraar Charlie (David Schwimmer) besluit om zich, samen met zwendelaar Gus (Simon Pegg) en zijn vriendin, te storten op een chantagegeval. Niets loopt echter volgens het plan en de grootst mogelijke wanorde is het gevolg.
