Toen zijn vader op z'n sterfbed lag, kreeg de jonge Hal te horen dat hij later alleen met de jongste en mooiste meisjes uit moest gaan. Dit doet hij vervolgens ook, tot hij door een guru gehypnotiseerd wordt. Hij komt Rosemary tegen, op wie hij, ondanks haar zwaarlijvigheid, toch verliefd wordt.
Nee, helaas is Shallow Hal nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
