Een vampierachtige ziekte steekt de kop op, waardoor mensen een hogere intelligentie, een fantastisch uithoudingsvermogen en een ongekende snelheid krijgen. Violet is een jonge vrouw die, hoewel ze ook is besmet, het opneemt tegen de vampieren die de wereld willen overnemen. De eerste opdracht van Violet is het beschermen van een negenjarig jongetje waar de vampiers hun zinnen op hebben gezet.
