Netflix is weer bezig een populaire anime show in echte live action om te zetten, eind augustus laat de streamer het eerste seizoen zien van de langverwachte versie de manga anime serie One Piece. Het tweede seizoen van The Lincoln Lawyer gaat ook verder in augustus.
Deze maand zal onder andere te zien zijn; een nieuwe docu dramaserie over de opioïde epidemie, Painkiller (10 aug.) met Matthew Broderick in de hoofdrol. Heart of Stone (11 aug.), een spionage-actiethriller met in de hoofdrollen Gal Godot en Jamie Dornan. De geanimeerde martial arts-komedie The Monkey King (18 augustus), die duidelijk de Kung-Fu Panda-serie kopieert en het tweede seizoen van de queer romance Heartstopper (3 aug.) gebaseerd op enkele populaire young adult graphic novels.
