Het verhaal volgt visser Ed Collier, die zeer beschermend is over zijn gezin, waaronder vrouw Claire en dochter Abbie. Wanneer echter een rijke jongeman met de naam Ryan Wilson belangstelling voor zijn dochter begint te krijgen, voelt Ed dat ze steeds afstandelijker wordt en is hij bang dat hij haar voorgoed zal verliezen.
